Playing in the Garden
This weekend I was over at a neighbors house admiring the work he has put into expanding his home garden. While we were looking at the explosion of color from the chard I noticed there were holes in some of the leafs and questioned as to what happened. My friend told me that the birds lie to get in and pick away at the chard leaves that aren't growing as well as the rest. I asked if he would be putting up netting over the top so the little rascals wouldn't steal peaces of his bounty and he said he wouldn't. I let mother nature take what she wants and what's left is for me. Seeing this I really saw a guy that was living with nature and not attempting to control it. He has altered the land some so that he is able to feed his family put not so much as to run off the wildlife. He enjoy's watching the deer sip from his ponds and the squirrels play in the oak trees. So I will take a cue from him as I plow around the yard and setup our garden.

Right on Reggie. A nice, little summer garden is a great effort towards sustainability. The food not only tastes better, but it is much cheaper. I recently got a backyard garden going at my mothers house. Checkout my garden post @ http://earthgroup.viviti.com/entries/general/summer-garden
